Intended for children from Kindergarten to grade 5, Children’s Liturgy of the Word is offered during all four weekend Masses.
At the beginning of Mass, the children process to the Gathering Room for informal teaching and a time of prayer. The children listen to a Reading, sing a Responsorial Psalm, and listen to the Gospel followed by a reflection, a simple Profession of Faith, and Petitions. A Children’s Lectionary is used so that the Reading and Gospel are in simpler language for children to understand. Afterward, the children return to the church for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
The primary purpose of Children’s Liturgy of the Word is to provide them with a focused environment where they are more likely to become conscious, active listeners and responders to God’s Word. It allows the children to get more out of the Mass. Older siblings and parents are allowed to attend with their children.
No registration is required.
