Our church is blessed to have gifted singers and skillful instrumentalists, both professional and lay musicians, who participate in our ministry week after week. It is our goal to present music that glorifies, edifies, and ministers to the saints who worship with us.
Parishioners who express an interest in praising God through music are warmly invited to join the music ministry to enhance our liturgical celebrations! We offer several ministries that can accommodate different talents. Please contact Tyler Randolph, Director of Music Ministry, to join any of our music ministries.
Cantors and Psalmists
Cantors and Psalmists lead the congregation in song at all liturgies. The psalmist proclaims scripture and prayer (the responsorial psalm, gospel acclamation, prayers of the faithful) and the cantor leads the assembly in the singing of the hymns and the Ordinary of the Mass. The ministry is open to youth and adults who exhibit a strong and pleasant voice. An audition and willingness to practice and learn music on your own are required.
The Parish Choir provides musical leadership primarily at the 10 a.m. Sunday Mass as well as other liturgies throughout the year. Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. No prior experience or ability to read music is necessary!
Georgian Chant Schola
The Georgian Chant Schola primarily sings at the 10 a.m. Mass, enhancing the liturgy with the distinctive and ancient sounds of chant. The Schola sings the entrance and communion Proper texts of the Mass, prescribed texts to be used for the liturgy.
Complementing the Parish Choir, the parish is blessed to have instrumentalists that add a distinct “voice” to the liturgy. The instrumentalists primarily accompany the 10 a.m. Sunday Mass, but you may play at any Mass you would like. If you have played a musical instrument in the past, this is a good way to get back into playing! We especially have a need for brass, woodwind, and string players.
If you enjoy singing (or playing an instrument) but do not have the time to commit to the weekly rehearsal and schedule of the Parish Choir, consider being a part of the Summer Choir! This is a more informal ensemble, participating in various weekend liturgies throughout the summer months. There is no midweek rehearsal, just a rehearsal before Mass. The choral repertoire is generally easier and is a good way to give choral singing a try!
The Handbell Choir adds a unique dimension to the liturgy. The parish is blessed to have a beautiful set of Schulmerich Handbells. Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. Please contact Brenda Osinski for more information.
The Funeral Choir provides much consolation for the families of the departed for all Funeral Masses celebrated at our parish. The Choir is open to all and gathers in the front pews of the St. Joseph side of the Church during each funeral Mass. There are no rehearsals or commitments.
Members add song and celebration to group baptisms celebrated throughout the year. These most often take place one Saturday per month at 1 p.m.
The Children’s Choir gives young people the chance to share their angelic voices during the liturgy. This instills a love and desire to participate in the liturgy at a young age. The choir rehearses and sings seasonally. Rehearsals are held Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. in the Gathering Room. Please contact Brenda Osinski for more information.
