Dear Beloved Parishioners,

One of the most important celebrations of the year is the Mass that we celebrate in remembrance of the faithful departed members of our parish family. As you know, traditionally, this Mass is celebrated on the Feast of All Souls. It has been our practice to invite all the families of the parish who have lost a loved one since last year to gather in prayer and remember them at Mass. We had planned to celebrate this day together in the upcoming week but with the pandemic still in full force, I believe it would be wise to postpone our face to face gathering until a safer time.

I have received concerns from family members who would like to attend but yet are not comfortable to come to the Mass. With this in mind, I have decided that we will do things a bit differently this year.

I will celebrate a Mass in remembrance of all the faithful departed of both of my parishes virtually for everyone to watch via our Operation Safe Mode YouTube channel. At the Mass we will read the names of all the deceased during the Prayers of the Faithful. This Mass will be broadcasted on Friday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m.

After the pandemic resides we will schedule another Mass for all to attend and at that time the crosses can be given to you to take home in honor of your beloved.

Know that I keep you in my daily prayers as we approach this great feast of “hope” when we pray that through Jesus’ love and merciful passion that our loved ones are made perfect with Him in Heaven. I pray that you may be comforted by the hope of the Resurrection and our belief that we will see all of them again.

So may the blessings of the Lord and the love of our departed family members give us the strength to persevere now until we are one in heaven.

(Note: The names of our faithfully departed from the past year will be available in the Nov. 1 bulletin.)
